Why it matters

The appointment matters because Ondo is scaling in one of crypto’s most closely watched institutional sectors: tokenized real-world assets. The company says its tokenized securities platform has surpassed $1 billion in total value locked, a milestone it framed as part of a broader shift from early adoption toward larger institutional use.

Schlisman most recently served as CFO of global macro hedge fund Monashee Investment Management. Before that, he held the CFO role at Blockchain.com, where his remit included finance, treasury and risk during a period of rapid growth. Earlier in his career, he spent nearly a decade at Graham Capital Management in portfolio management and risk roles.

Founded in 2021 by former Goldman Sachs executives, Ondo offers blockchain-based exposure to assets including U.S. Treasuries and stocks. CoinDesk reported that the company has more than $3.5 billion across its products.

Ondo’s platform is available on Solana, Ethereum and BNB Chain, and is integrated with exchanges, wallets and custodians including Binance, Bitget, MetaMask, Ledger and Blockchain.com. CoinDesk also reported that Ondo was recently evaluating a potential acquisition valued between $250 million and $500 million, citing a person familiar with the matter.
