Strategy sold 1,690 bitcoin last week for $108.6 million and raised an additional $653.1 million by selling 6.59 million shares of MSTR common stock, according to a Monday filing cited by CoinDesk. The company used the bitcoin sale proceeds to repurchase 1,152,020 shares of its variable-rate preferred stock, STRC.
The transactions matter because Strategy remains one of the most closely watched corporate bitcoin holders, and changes to its balance sheet are tracked across both crypto and equity markets. The filing shows the company pairing bitcoin sales with equity fundraising and preferred-stock repurchases, while also building a larger dollar reserve.
After the sale, Strategy’s bitcoin holdings stood at 840,447 BTC. CoinDesk reported that those holdings were acquired for $63.36 billion at an average price of $75,385 per bitcoin, while the 1,690 BTC were sold at an average price of $64,262 after fees and expenses.
Strategy directed $650 million from the MSTR share sale proceeds to its U.S. dollar reserve, bringing that reserve to $4.65 billion as of Aug. 9. The remaining $3.1 million was added to the company’s cash balance.
Following the latest transactions, Strategy had $785.2 million remaining under its preferred-stock repurchase program and $1 billion available under its MSTR common-stock repurchase program. CoinDesk reported that MSTR and STRC were each up 0.5% in Monday pre-market trading, while bitcoin was trading near $65,000.
