Bitcoin held above $64,600 on Thursday, posting a small daily gain and remaining up 0.5% over the week, according to CoinDesk. The move followed a dip earlier in the week that buyers defended, keeping attention focused on whether bitcoin can sustain momentum while the broader crypto market remains uneven.
The development matters because bitcoin appeared to be drawing more optimism than the rest of the major token market. FxPro analyst Alex Kuptsikevich said buyers stepped in near $62,500 on Monday and pushed bitcoin back above its 50-day moving average, a pattern he described as typical of the early stage of a longer-term shift.
Traders were also watching SpaceX, where about $101 billion of stock was set to become tradable Thursday as an initial lockup expired. The Elon Musk-owned company held 18,712 BTC, valued at roughly $1.1 billion at the end of June, making the unlock relevant for market participants tracking large private-company balance sheets with bitcoin exposure.
Elsewhere in crypto, ether rose more than 1% to $1,904 but remained slightly lower over seven days. XRP fell nearly 3% to $1.04, BNB slipped more than 1% to $595, solana traded near $74 after a nearly 1% decline, dogecoin was around 7 cents, and tron was flat at 33 cents. Hyperliquid’s HYPE was little changed at $56 but led major tokens for the week with a gain of more than 4%.
The wider risk backdrop was less supportive. The MSCI All Country World Index ended a five-day advance with a 0.2% decline as chip stocks weakened, while Korea’s Kospi dropped 4.4% with losses led by SK Hynix and Samsung. Gold rose 0.4% to its strongest level since June as traders reduced expectations for rate hikes, and SoftBank’s upcoming results were being watched as a signal for private-market enthusiasm around artificial intelligence.
